Keep Regular Hours Go to bed at regular hours. This helps to keep your bodies biological clock in sync. It is also a good idea to do this on weekends.  Develop a Sleep Ritual By doing the same things each night before going to bed gets your body to ready for sleep even before you are actually in bed.  Sleep on a comfortable Mattress and Foundation If your mattress is uncomfortable, too small, or no longer providing the proper support anymore it will be difficult to get into the deep restful sleep that our bodies require.  Exercise on a Regular Basis Exercising on a regular basis helps to relieve tensions that can be built up which may disrupt your sleep. Just be sure not to exercise to close to bed time, as you may find it difficult to get your body to wind down.  Cut Down on Stimulants Consuming stimulants, such as caffeine, in the evening can interfere with your ability to fall asleep and prevent you from reaching a deep sleep.  Don't Smoke Studies show that people who smoke take longer to fall asleep, awaken more often, and experience disrupted, fragmented sleep.  Drink in Moderation Drinking alcohol before bed time also interferes with, and fragments sleep.  Unwind Early in the Evening Try to deal with worries and distractions several hours before going to bed.  Create a Restful Sleep Environment Sleep in a cool, dark, quite room on a comfortable and supportive mattress and foundation.  Make Sleep a Priority Instead of giving in to the temptation of staying up late, go to sleep instead. By keeping your sleep patterns regular you will feel much better in the morning.
