Creating a Better Sleep Environment |
Here is a list of things you can do to make your bedroom a better sleep environment.
Noise In order to get a good sleep at night, create for yourself a quiet sleep environment. The quieter the better. If you cannot quiet all the sounds, such as sirens or a noisy radiator, something like a fan running at low speeds can help. It has a constant soft sound that will not disturb the body while you sleep. Sounds can trigger your nervous system and send signals to the rest of your body keeping you awake. If you can eliminate or mask these sounds it will make it easier to fall asleep, and help keep you there. Light If the light is to bright in your room, it can also make it difficult to sleep. Light is one of the bodies more powerful time cues. A quiet dark room is best. This can be achieved by placing a dark curtain over the window, or by even trying eyeshades. Temperature The best sleep environment has a temperature between 16 and 18 degrees Celsius. (60 to 65 degrees Fahrenheit) A room that is to hot or cold can make your room uncomfortable and disturb your sleep. The Bedroom Painting your bedroom colors that are peaceful to you will also help create a calm environment. Also by keeping the room free of work, and not allowing cloths to pile up can also take away feelings of stress. Mattress and Foundation Be sure that your mattress and foundation meet your needs when it comes to comfort and support. A bed that is worn out, to hard or to soft can also make it difficult to sleep. Also when sleeping with a partner, make sure that your bed is large enough for each of you to easily move through the night.
